Physician Assistant
Emily Burkart, PA-C is a nationally certified Physician Assistant with advanced experience caring for patients in complex medical and surgical environments. She brings a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to every visit, with a strong focus on listening, education, and collaborative care.
Emily earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Evansville in 2022 after completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Furman University, where she graduated magna cum laude. Her clinical training included orthopedic medicine, general and vascular surgery, and a wide range of additional rotations that helped shape her comprehensive approach to musculoskeletal care.
Most recently, Emily practiced at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where she worked within specialized renal and pulmonary transplant and cystic fibrosis teams. In this role, she managed medically complex patients, coordinated multidisciplinary treatment plans, performed detailed clinical assessments, prescribed medications, and supported individuals and families through high-acuity hospital stays. She was also recognized for her leadership and commitment to education, serving as a Physician Assistant student preceptor and receiving a Rising Star nomination.
Emily is known for her compassionate bedside manner, strong clinical judgment, and ability to connect with patients during stressful or uncertain moments. She values taking the time to explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly so patients feel confident and supported throughout their care journey.
Outside of medicine, Emily enjoys fly fishing, running with her dog, Cece, traveling, and exploring national parks.
