Allison Vinson, DPT, CHT is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Hand Therapist with extensive experience treating orthopedic and upper extremity conditions. She brings a thoughtful, hands-on approach to rehabilitation, helping patients regain strength, mobility, and confidence after injury or surgery.
Allison earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Kentucky, where her doctoral work focused on movement science and functional recovery. She has practiced physical therapy in Kentucky for more than a decade, working in both outpatient orthopedic and inpatient rehabilitation settings. Her clinical background includes manual therapy, post-surgical rehabilitation, and treatment of complex musculoskeletal conditions.
In 2018, Allison completed her Certification in Hand Therapy, a credential that reflects advanced training and clinical expertise in conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and upper extremity. Her continuing education includes specialized training in wrist, hand, and elbow rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, integrative dry needling, biomechanics, and evidence-based manual therapy techniques.
At Hand + Wrist of Louisville, Allison works closely with Michael C. Nicoson, M.D. to provide coordinated, in-house rehabilitation care for patients undergoing both surgical and non-surgical treatment. This collaborative model allows for personalized therapy plans, custom splinting, and thoughtful progression of exercises tailored to each patient’s goals, whether that means returning to work, creative pursuits, athletics, or daily activities.
Allison is known for her attentive listening style, clear communication, and commitment to helping patients feel supported throughout their recovery. She values education as a key part of healing and enjoys guiding patients through each phase of rehabilitation with clarity and encouragement.
